Floral Freeway Project Opening Reception At tribeca trunk
To Honor Memory Of Late Artist/Entrepreneur, Freda Kunin;
In Conjunction With Yearly LexArts Gallery Hop
-Artists Invited To Create Special Pieces Of Art From Freda’s Creations-

(Lexington, KY) – Lexington musician ellee ven and her charitable Give Into The Groove (GITG) foundation are proud and pleased to be part of the Floral Freeway Project Opening Reception honoring late Los Angeles-based entrepreneur Freda Kunin, At tribeca trunk in Lexington, Thursday, February 20, 2014. This event is in conjunction with the LexArts Gallery Hop the day after, Feb. 21. Kunin – sister of Jessica Kunin (a/k/a ellee ven) – was the longtime proprietor of respected online superstore FredaLA., which closed suddenly in 2011 when Freda was diagnosed with ALS. Freda passed away in 2012.

Esteemed local artists have been invited to showcase their original work and sell their creations, as well as to create special pieces incorporating a certain number of Kunin’s unique floral cuffs.

“Freda was a creative mind, an artist and friend to many other artists,” says Becky Neal Ochenkoski, owner/buyer of tribeca trunk and co-organizer of Floral Freeway Project. “BUT, most of all she was Jessica Kunin’s sister. Freda was also very much a part of GITG’s growth! She had hundreds of beautiful floral-designed bracelets delivered to her at a point where she wasn’t truly able to work at FredaLA anymore. Jessica has always thought it would be amazing for these small works of art to be re-purposed by artists into sculpture or on canvas, with a portion of the funds going to GITG.”

Artists currently confirmed to participate in Floral Freeway Project: Helene Steene; Lennon Michalski; Sarah Heller; James Shambhu; Fielden Willmott; Andrea Sims; Deborah Westerfield; Marcia Cone; Tash Suter; Tess Larimore; Susan Creacy; Helene Steene; Jim Shambhu; Kathleen O’Brien; Liz Foley; Tania Bigosinski; Aimee Hirschowitz; Jim Edmon; Patti Edmon; Monica Pipia; Celeste Lewis; Emily Whipple; Maui Crane; Blake Eames; Enrique Gonzalez; Samantha Jean Moore; Jennifer Higgins; Jennifer Banks; and Stacey Chinn.
